A step-by-step guide for the new look Simple Salon.
Open Simple Salon and land on the diary you actually care about, not the whole salon.
The Preferred Operator setting in Settings → Appointments tells Simple Salon which operator's diary to show you when you open the Appointments page. Pick yourself if you're a solo operator, or the team member whose diary you manage day-to-day. From then on, Appointments opens straight to that operator's week view. No scrolling, no flipping columns. Here's how to set it.
Open Settings
From the sidebar, click Settings. The settings panel slides in from the right, with everything grouped into collapsible sections: Security, Appointments, Clients, and more.
Can't see Settings?
Your user account needs the Manager or Owner role to access Settings. If it's hidden, ask a teammate with admin access to flick that on under Users & Permissions.
Expand Appointments and find Preferred Operator
Click the Appointments section to open it up. The very first option inside is Preferred Operator, a dropdown showing every bookable operator in your salon. In a hurry? Type "preferred" into the Search settings… field at the top and it'll jump you straight there.
This is per user, not per salon.
Each user can set their own Preferred Operator. So you might pick yourself, while your colleague picks themselves. Same salon, different default diary views. No one steps on each other's toes.
Pick your operator
Click the Preferred Operator dropdown. You'll see every bookable operator in your salon. Choose the one whose diary you want to land on each time you open Appointments.
Want to see everyone again?
Scroll to the bottom of the list and pick None. Your Appointments page will go back to the full day view with every operator column visible.
Done. Hit Save and check the diary
Click the green Save button in the top right. Next time you click Appointments, the diary opens straight to your chosen operator's week view. Monday to Sunday, all in one glance. Cleaner, faster, and right where you need to be.
A few extras worth knowing
It's per user, not per salon. Each user account has its own Preferred Operator setting. Your colleague can pick themselves, you can pick yourself. Same salon, no conflicts.
New operators show up automatically. Add a new team member under Settings → Users & Permissions and mark them as Bookable. They'll appear in your Preferred Operator dropdown the next time you open Settings.
Pairs nicely with client-level preferences. This setting controls your view of the diary. The Preferred Operator on a client's profile controls which operator gets booked when that client makes an appointment. Two different jobs, both useful. See How to Set a Preferred Operator for the client one.
Owners: don't pick yourself if you don't take bookings. If you run the salon but don't sit behind the chair, leave this as None so you still see the whole team's diary by default.
