The Reporting section in Simple Salon gives you a clear view of your salon's performance through four tabs: Dashboard, Report List, KPIs, and Benchmarking. Use these tools to track sales, monitor operator performance, and compare your business against industry standards.
How to Access
Navigate to Reporting from the main menu. The Dashboard tab is displayed by default.
Dashboard
The Dashboard provides a quick snapshot of key metrics for a selected date range. Use the date filter at the top to choose your reporting period. Toggle the Exclude Tax option to view figures with or without tax.
The Dashboard is divided into four sections:
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Sales | total sales figures for the selected period |
| Re-Booking | rebooking rates and counts |
| Operators | operator-level performance summary |
| Membership Update | membership activity and changes |
Report List
The Report List tab contains over 40 individual reports covering all areas of your business. Each report includes a brief description and a link to run it. Reports cover areas including:
- Sales and revenue breakdowns
- Operator performance
- Client activity and retention
- Product and service analysis
- Appointment and rebooking statistics
- Financial summaries
Click on any report name to open it with the default date range, or adjust the date filter before running.
Benchmarking
The Benchmarking tab lets you compare your salon's performance against industry benchmarks. This helps you identify areas where you are performing well and areas that need attention.
Benchmarking is broken into three sections:
Sales
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Total Sales | your total revenue vs the benchmark |
| Total Products | your product sales vs the benchmark |
| Total Services | your service sales vs the benchmark |
Averages
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Avg Service Price | average price per service |
| Avg Product Price | average price per product sold |
| Avg Spend per Client | average total spend per client visit |
| Avg # Clients | average number of clients |
Operator Performance
Compares individual operator metrics against benchmarks, helping you identify top performers and coaching opportunities.
Each metric shows your Salon value alongside the Benchmark value for easy comparison.
KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
The KPIs tab displays an operator-level performance table with target values shown in grey. Use the date range and operator filter to narrow the view.
The KPI columns are:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Operator | The operator's name |
| Wages vs Sales (%) | Percentage of sales consumed by wages |
| Retail (%) | Retail sales as a percentage of total sales |
| Clients/Day | Average number of clients seen per day |
| Avg Spend ($) | Average dollar spend per client |
| Rebook Rate (%) | Percentage of clients who rebooked before leaving |
Target values appear in grey beneath each operator's actual figures, making it easy to see where targets are being met or missed.
How to Use the Reporting Section
- Navigate to Reporting from the main menu.
- Select the tab you want: Dashboard, Report List, KPIs, or Benchmarking.
- Set your date range using the date filter.
- For the Dashboard, toggle Exclude Tax if needed.
- For KPIs, use the Operator filter to focus on specific team members.
