Using a Barcode Scanner in Simple Salon

Overview

Simple Salon supports barcode scanners for quickly adding products to a sale in the POS. Any USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner that emulates keyboard input will work with Simple Salon.

Setting Up Products with Barcodes

  1. Go to Admin and click the Products tab.
  2. Click on a product to open its details.
  3. Enter the product's barcode number in the Barcode field.
  4. Click Save.

Repeat this for each product you want to scan.

Using the Scanner in POS

  1. Open the POS and start a sale for the client.
  2. Make sure the cursor is in the barcode/search field at the top of the POS screen.
  3. Scan the product barcode. The scanner will input the barcode number and the product will be added to the sale automatically.
  4. Continue scanning additional products as needed.
  5. Complete the sale as normal.

Tips

  • Make sure your barcode scanner is set to add a carriage return (Enter key) after each scan. Most scanners do this by default.
  • If products are not being found, double-check that the barcode number saved in Admin matches the barcode on the physical product.
  • You can also type the barcode number manually into the search field if the scanner is not available.
