You'd schedule lunch in the Roster mainly so it's counted properly in the Wages Report. If you don't need to track wages for lunch, it's easier to use the Tasks feature on your Appointments page instead. See Scheduling Lunch (Or Time Off) Using the 'Tasks' Feature.
To schedule lunch in the Roster:
- Go to Roster.
- Click the + next to the operator you want to add lunch for.
- In the Roster Item Details panel, pick LUNCH from the Roster Type dropdown. This type comes built in on a default setup, so most salons won't need to create it. If yours is missing it, add one from Admin, see Setting up your Roster with Advanced Rostering.
- Check the start and finish time, then Save. LUNCH defaults to a short block, so adjust the times if your break is longer.
- Click + again for the same operator and add a Rostered On item for the time before lunch, and another for the time after. This matters: a LUNCH item on its own does not make the operator show up as bookable on Appointments for that day at all. It also isn't counted in their weekly rostered hours total.
Each roster item shows in the operator's column with its start and finish time and type underneath. Here's a LUNCH item on the grid.
