Sometimes a client needs to put their membership on hold, or cancel it. Here's how to do both.
Before you start: these steps are done in the Old Look. Click your profile icon at the bottom left of the main menu, then click Switch to Old Look.
Suspending a membership
Suspending puts a membership on hold. The client isn't charged while it's suspended, and they can't use their membership inclusions or discounts.
- Open the client's Client Card.
- Click the Memberships tab.
- Click Edit on the membership.
- Click Actions at the top right, then Suspend.
- Confirm the suspension.
Re-activating a suspended membership
- Open the client's Client Card and click the Memberships tab.
- Click Edit on the suspended membership.
- Click Actions, then Re-Activate.
Billing starts again from the next billing cycle, and the client can use their membership inclusions again.
Cancelling a membership
Cancelling ends the membership for good and stops all future billing.
- Open the client's Client Card.
- Click the Memberships tab.
- Click Edit on the membership.
- Click Actions at the top right, then Cancel.
- Confirm the cancellation.
Note: if the membership has a Minimum Cancel Period (set under Admin > Membership > Edit), it can't be cancelled until that period has passed.
Good to know
- Suspending is temporary. Use it for a holiday, an injury or a short break. You can set suspension rules for each membership under Admin > Membership > Edit.
- Cancelling is permanent. The client would need to buy a new membership to rejoin.
- Each membership shows its current status on the client's Memberships tab: Active, Suspended or Cancelled.
- The same Actions menu also has Change Expiry, Payment Type and Delete.
Membership expiry
If a membership has an end date (the Expires in field under Admin > Membership > Edit), it ends on its own on that date. The client stops being charged and can't use their inclusions after that.
