Notify clients of significant changes via SMS


You may be deciding to notify clients of significant changes via SMS, such as changes of address, policy updates, and new stylists, however, you need to be aware that these can be quite expensive campaigns to run.

Please note that you can only send a maximum of 4 SMS messages (SMS rate * 4) to each client in your campaign through Simple Salon Messaging. That's approximately a message of 640 characters.

How many characters can I have in my message?

1 SMS is 160 characters in length. You can send longer messages using a process called concatenation. We use special characters to join the SMS together and deliver them as one message. Due to the use of characters to join the messages there are inconsistencies in the length of following SMS. This is the break down.

If you choose to send an SMS which is greater than 4 SMSs, the SMS will be sent to Simple Salon Messaging, and only the first 4 SMSs will be sent to each client.

You also won't be charged for the extra SMSs. Only a maximum of 4. This means clients will receive only part of the message.

That is a maximum cost of 4 SMS messages per client.

Note: If you choose to send a campaign of this size, you'll most likely spend a significant amount to your salon and you need to be sure that you're happy with the decision you made, as there is no going back.

To help you reduce your costs while continuing to communicate with your clients, you can send them an SMS with a link to your website.

For example, let's say you have an events or important announcements page on your website and you have created a new post to let them know that you're changing salons.

In Simple Salon, you can create your campaign and change the SMS content to something similar to the example below:

Hi #ClientFirstName#. We have a crucial announcement. Click the link to find our more:

This SMS comes in at just 121 of 160 characters.

Not only do you save money, clients are now aware that you have somewhere they can frequently visit to stay up to date with salon updates and news events.
